Course Content

A part time evenings only Level 4 Accounting course.

The course covers:

•Financial Statements:
The unit looks at the drafting of Income statements, statements of financial position and cash flow statements

•Budgeting:
In the Principles of budgeting unit, learners develop an understanding of how and why budgets are prepared

•Financial Performance:
Covers the internal and external factors that affect organisations, be aware of the cost accounting techniques (e.g. standard costing and variance analysis) needed in monitoring financial performance and understand the techniques necessary for measuring performance and managing costs

•Personal Taxation:
Enable learners to understand the impact and significance of taxation on individuals

•Business Taxation:
Enable learners to understand the impact and significance of taxation on both incorporated and unincorporated businesses

•Internal Control and Accounting Systems:
The purpose of this unit is to ensure that learners know and understand the role of accounting in an organisation, and why internal controls should be in place

All units are assessed by examination except ICAS which is assessed by a completion of a project.
