About this course
You have the option of five pathways highlighted below. Candidates will be expected to choose their desired pathway and follow the rules of combination highlighted.To achieve a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services you will need a minimum 90 Credits gained by demonstrating your skills, knowledge, understanding, care values and attitudes across mandatory and optional units.
Children and Young People Management
• 68 credits are from mandatory units and 22 from optional units
Children and Young People’e Advanced Practice
• 56 credits are from mandatory units and 34 from optional units
Adults Residential Management
• 62 credits are from mandatory units and 28 from optional units
Adults Management
• 63 credits are from mandatory units and 27 from optional units
Adults Advanced Practice
• 51 credits are from mandatory units and 39 from optional units
This course is open to anyone working in a health and social care setting who has management and leadership responsibilities. You will need to be at least 16 years old and have basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills in line with national occupational skills for care workers.
You are also expected to have access to the internet, computer and a word processor that can open and produce Microsoft Word Documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’. Candidates without Microsoft office are advised to consider free software such as Open Office. You, however, need to ensure your documents are saved and submitted for assessment as word documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’?
The course is delivered by either distance, blended learning or as classroom based. You are expected to meet course requirements regardless of the method of delivery.
Distance learning will stretch you as you need to self-motivate and work against the pressures of studying alone. We recommend you to utilise blended learning if possible, as this will give you the opportunity to have some face to face support.
Candidates studying by either distance or blended learning will need to fully participate in online activities and provide multimedia evidence whenever possible.
