Course programme

Critical Thinking
Qualification: AS/A Level AQA COD5

Duration: 1 / 2 years

Unlike other subjects where you need to absorb a large body of knowledge, Critical Thinking is entirely skills-based. These skills are all about arguments: recognising, analysing and evaluating them, skills valued by universities and employers alike. You will also learn to evaluate the credibility of evidence and develop skills in explaining and resolving dilemmas, where two points of view conflict. You will be asked to discuss the issues raised, to consider whether the arguments presented are valid, and to develop relevant further arguments of your own.

Qualification explained
A-Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) qualification. In the second year, you can take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to gain a full A Level. (In some subjects, the courses are divided into 3 rather than 2 units at AS and A2.)
