Special entry requirements

  • At least grades BB in GCSE Science or a B in Biology. Applied Science does not provide a suitable grounding for the study of pure science at A-level

  • Determination to succeed. Biology is a difficult subject, with many concepts and a lot of scientific terminology to master. It is not a subject to take as a fourth AS level, because you think it might be the easy science.

  • An enquiring mind and the discipline to read and think about the subject outside of lessons.

  • The ability to apply your knowledge to new situations. This is one of the main skills needed for success in the exams.
