Physics is the fundamental science that lies at the heart of modern engineering, technology and medicine. The subject is studied through a variety of different applications and contexts. For the AS course you will study 'Physics on the Go' - the physics in sport, the food industry and the human body and 'Physics at Work' the physics in Archaeology, space, satellites and sound recording. Coursework includes experimental work and a case study or visit. For the A2 course you will study 'Physics on the Move' the physics in rail transport, communication systems and particle physics and 'Physics from Creation to Collapse' the physics in earthquakes, building design and astrophysics. Coursework is based upon completion of an experiment.

Qualification explained
A-Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) qualification. In the second year, you can take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to gain a full A Level. (In some subjects, the courses are divided into 3 rather than 2 units at AS and A2.)
