Who is this course for?
Anyone with an interest in film, film-making and film-makers. This course offers a look at both sides of the camera.
What will I learn?
The first year of the course uses a variety of films to illustrate differences between modern Hollywood and the emerging British cinema scene. The second year allows students to explore and develop their own interests in film, resulting in the production of a film product and promotional materials.
Assessment
AS level: one written and one creative coursework project; one exam: British and American film. (May 2010). A2 level: one written and one creative coursework project; one exam: Film Issues and Debates. (June 2010).
On Completion Achievement / Progression
Students have gone on to work in independent film production, corporate advertising and a variety of film and media degree courses such as BA Video with Film Studies at Swansea University and BA Film and Media at UWIC Newport.

Requirement
You will need the minimum entry requirement of 4 Grade C passes or above at GCSE level, one preferably in English as you will need a good command of English language. Students wishing to take this subject as part of the full-time provision should complete an application form on receipt of which we will invite you to the college for an informal interview where you will have the opportunity to talk with the tutors. You will also take a literacy and numeracy assessement. If you wish to take this course on a part-time day or evening basis, please attend one of the enrolment sessions advertised on our website.
