Why choose this course?
Further Maths is a challenging course for those with a real interest in and aptitude for the subject. The training in logic that the course provides is appropriate to most subjects and the course supports most careers in the fields of Mathematics, Science and Engineering, Computing, Economics, and Accountancy. It equips you with skills such as logical analysis and deduction, problem solving, data handling and mathematical modelling - which can be applied in almost any field of work.

What will I study?
The first year consists of a broad programme including Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics. Topics include those mentioned in the mathematics course. In the second year you will extend your Pure Mathematics and applications to cover such topics as differential equations, polar co-ordinates, complex numbers and numerical solution of equations. This will give you a very thorough mathematical grounding.

Huish Extra
All students will be able to use the mathematics workshop which is an excellent provision enabling students to work with other like minded students and staff. Students can also participate in the Senior Mathematics challenge leading to the British Mathematical Olympiad.
