Who is this course for?
Those who wish to explore a range of graphics media and techniques.
What will I learn?
The course will introduce you to a variety of experiences, exploring a range of graphics media and techniques. You will develop an understanding of meaning, function, style, scale, colour and content in relation to your chosen aspect of graphic design.You will learn to respond to an issue, concept or idea, working to a brief.The course allows you to gain an appreciation of the appropriate use of lettering, signs and symbols. Together with an understanding of a variety of genres and materials appropriate to the aspect of graphic design that you are studying.
Assessment
During the first year you will be assessed on one major coursework project (which is supported by numerous smaller, task based activities) and an externally set exam (5 hours). Year 2 consists of a personal investigation relating to graphic design (again supported by smaller tasks) and an externally set exam (15 hours).
On Completion Achievement / Progression
This qualification will enable you to progress onto design courses in higher education leading to careers in advertising, computer graphics, image editing and print.
