What kind of student is this course suitable for?
To succeed in Law you need to be able to read carefully and to think critically about what you have read. You are unlikely to find the course stimulating unless you are interested in the way that the legal system works and you are aware of some of the current legal issues being discussed in the media.
You must be willing to read regularly in your own time, and in lessons you will be expected to discuss what you have read, and to write at length about the ideas you have studied.
What could I do with a qualification in this subject?
It is a good idea to take AS Law if you are thinking about a career in the law. The course is not intended to prepare you to become a lawyer, but it might help you decide whether you would enjoy studying Law as a degree subject. However, no university will require you to have an AS or A level in Law if you want to do a degree in Law.
Any student would benefit from the course as it provides a good insight into the legal system, which has a bearing on most aspects of our lives, for example as consumers, employees and drivers.
