This course takes a multidisciplinary approach to the varied and interesting field of PE and Sport. Topics such as mental focus, physical fitness and movement analysis allow you to see how they integrate to produce optimal performance. Socio cultural aspects explore how sports organizations and the Olympic Games impact upon participation and success in sport.
The interaction of practical with theory is essential to your understanding and is combined where possible. The theory contributes to 60% of the final marks in one examination.
Practical assessment involves specialising in two activities as a performer, coach or referee and an oral evaluation of a live performance. This makes up the remaining 40%
This course provides an excellent grounding for HE courses or careers in teaching, coaching, Sports Science and Sport Psychology.

Qualification explained
A-Level courses are divided into two parts. In the first year you will study two units of a subject leading to an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) qualification. In the second year, you can take a further two units at A2 in the same subject to gain a full A Level. (In some subjects, the courses are divided into 3 rather than 2 units at AS and A2.)
