If you’re going to learn to draw then many would say you have to draw from the figure. For centuries this practice has enabled people to discover a way of connecting with the world which is as relevant now as it ever was.

Drawing is a very personal thing so it’s important to me that the atmosphere of my classes is welcoming and accepting. Small groups of people help each other to understand what they are doing, regardless of experience, whilst I provide a structure, tuition and advice which can move things forward.

Life drawing can be rigorous, but it’s also huge fun. There are staggering discoveries to be made, whilst the unusual context and environment is an excellent forum for sharing thoughts and ideas in good humour.

My sessions take into account the complete beginner but we also have plenty of more experienced artists involved. Some of my students have been attending these sessions since they began in 2006.

In order to attend you just have to bring yourself and some enthusiasm. You’re quite welcome to bring a sketchbook or paints, or any other media you like. I provide drawing media such as charcoal, pencils and graphite. Good quality drawing cartridge is also available at cost price for your convenience. My studio is equipped with easels, drawing boards and clips too.

Course programme

The content of this course ranges from very short poses of only a few seconds, to poses lasting the full two hour session. The longer poses tend to be more common but you will also be put through your paces in the interest of pursuing drawing as a discipline. Most sessions you will be given a series of tasks or exercises to try out in suggested media. These are optional- you are welcom to just do your own thing if needs be.
