I have taught life drawing at Lancaster University for the last three years and have extensive experience as a teacher. I exhibit my own sculptural ceramic work, which relates to the female form and is informed through my drawings, throughout the country.
Course programme
Brochure Description
To help beginners to identify what to look for in the figure and then how to represent what you see in a 2 dimensional drawing. You will be guided through the basics of life drawing, looking at proportion, movement and the use of line and tone. More advanced students can use these sessions to further advance their drawing skills, guided by the tutor. Cost includes fee for model. Continuing from autumn term.
What will I learn during the course?

You do not need previous experience of life drawing, although some drawing skills are an advantage.
How will I learn?
You will be taught through demonstrations, one to one help, and tutor’s feedback.
How will I know that I am making progress?
You will keep records of your own learning and developing skills and receive written feedback from the tutor.
Will there be homework? If so how much/how many hours?
There will not be specific homework, however drawing practice outside of class will be encouraged.
Will there be additional costs?
You will need to buy certain drawing materials.
Do I need specific equipment or clothes?
Charcoal sticks or compressed charcoal, putty rubber, cartridge paper.

You can take your skills further by attending other drawing classes.

We run a wide range of courses based in Kendal, Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale. You could also look at courses organised by other local Adult Education Centres at Cartmel, Dallam, Kendal Brewery Arts Centre and Kirkby Stephen.
Parking & Venue Information
The school is located on Kendal Road. Park in main school car park on Kendal Road. The Art Block is located behind the main buildings. From the car park walk to the right of the main block, then in behind it, passing the theatre/drama studio entrance.
