Course programme
People with Learning difficulties or disabilities aged 16-24 who wish to pursue a career in catering or similar work.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?Prospective candidates need to be working at Entry 3 for basic skills including communication, literacy and numeracy - this would include the ability to read and write basic recipes. You should have experience in kitchen skills and have shown an interest in gaining employment in the catering industry.
What will I study ?Kitchen safety, catering in a professional environment, nutrition and fitness, maths and English. Students run their own social enterprise, the Munch Box cafÈ, serving food to other students and staff at lunch time in the LLDD Centre of Excellence.
How will I be assessed ?Interview, taster session, initial diagnostic assessment. All students work towards their own learning goals & Individual Learning Plans to progress and achieve.
What qualifications could I achieve ?Edexcel BTEC Entry level award in introduction to the hospitality industry E3 plus Level One Food Hygiene Certificate.
