Course programme

Who is this course for?

Young adults with learning disabilities, and/or on the autistic spectrum up to age 24 years who have a keen interest in Performing Arts. This is for candidates who wish to further develop their skills and progress onto further specialised courses and work within this area. Students need to be working at Entry Level 3 in literacy with basic ICT Skills.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

Prospective candidates need to be working at Entry Level 3 in basic skills including Literacy and Communication. They need to show a keen interest in the Performance Arts. Candidates are individually assessed for their suitability against these criteria.

What will I study ?

Drama: both practical and theory work Dance: both practical and theory work Performance Preparation Work End of Year Performance: examined as part of qualification Assignment Work including keeping an Actors Journal. ICT Work Experience within a related area. Enrichment Programme includes: Backstage Tour of a Performance Venue and trip to Theatre Performance. Students who successfully complete their Entry 3 qualification they can progress onto Level 1 in their second year.

How will I be assessed ?

Interview, literacy and practical assessment. All students work towards their own learning goals and each have their own Star Chart to map goals and progress.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

Edexcel BTEC in Performing Arts.

An interview and assessment is required. If successful with this initial assessment candidates will then be invited to join a practical session.
