LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN FOUNDATION DEGREE (FdSc)
The following statement applies to 'home' status students only, ie
those who have been permanently resident in the UK or other members of the
European Economic Area for at least 3 years. For 2008/9 the tuition fee
for 'home' status students is £1250. Students may apply for financial
assistance towards the cost of tuition fees and living expenses. The
government offer tuition fee loans, student maintenance loans and HE
grants, the amounts you are entitled to are dependant upon a financial
assessment of your family or partner's income. All students should apply
to their Local Education Authority as soon as possible and in advance of
the academic year. This also applies to current FE students at BCOT. For

are required to pay a higher tuition fee, please refer to our web page for

Entry Requirements
An interview is
required.
Need to be able to work at an A level standard. A
Foundation Degree is designed to be as flexible and open as possible, and
particularly welcomes applicants who may not have previously thought that
higher education was for them, or who have no formal qualifications.
Relevant work experience will be taken into account.
Description
The
Foundation Degree is designed with the collaboration of employers ie with
the needs of both employers and employees firmly in mind. It will give you
not only marketable academic skills but solidly work-based practical
skills as well. This 2-3 year programme provides a knowledge base for a
wide range of careers in the Logistics and Supply Chain Industry. There is
a significant amount of practical work and work based assessments.

Students
are reminded that this is an academic course and they must allow time for
private study and home assignments in addition to lectures.
Where a
course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all
students will enter for the qualification.
Method of Assessment
A
variety of assessment methods are used including assignments, case
studies, individual and group presentations, work-based assignments and
time-constrained assessments.
Progression
On completion of a
foundation degree, there is the opportunity to progress to a full Honours
Degree with just a further 12-15 months full-time study (this can also be
done on a part-time basis over a longer period of time). Foundation degree
graduates can also progress on to further professional qualifications in
Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply; Chartered Institute of
Logistics and Transport.
