The course focuses on intellectual underpinning which enhances the understanding of the task of design and its relationship to business and the professional industry. This course considers three primary fields of practice: communication design, interactive design and product design.

Students will adopt a reflective, analytical and evaluative approach towards design to have a greater understanding of the dynamic relationships between design, industry and the commercial sector.

The study plan assimilates the work reality of the field while pursuing to provide students with artistic, academic and entrepreneurial advanced and specialised knowledge to enable them to hold a consolidated career in the future.

Students are taught by qualified; experienced, distinguished faculty made up of teachers with an academic background and professional practice.

The potential employment destinations for graduates are mainly advertising (art directors, producers or designers), visual design – communication, graphic and interactive design (designers, producers, team leaders, art directors or creative directors) and product design agencies (designers, producers, team leaders or creative directors), as well as self-employment (playing all the aforementioned roles).

Foreseeable future conditions in the marketplace point towards a significant growth in free-lance employment, even when designers are integrated into agencies, companies or specific project teams.

About this course

Have completed higher education (3 years of study at least) in the country of origin attested by a legally issued certificate. This degree must have been obtained in your chosen subject or related discipline.
And / Or
Relevant work experience, demonstrating your ability to study at postgraduate level subject to LSDM approval based on the affinity and pertinence of the student’s background education, training and expertise to design, because LSDM has to make sure that applicants are prepared not only to enrol in this course but also to make suitable use of the education here obtained.

The MA Design is 100% online and designed to let you go to school on your time, according to your life, not according to a class schedule.

Within nearly 12 months you will have a completed Design MA degree, accredited by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), one of the United Kingdom’s leading specialist universities taught in your language without leaving your city.

Teaching and learning methods adopted in the course:
  • Taught in English, Spanish and Portuguese;
  • Five units and a final project;Unit contents are asynchronous and organised by weekly topics;
  • Tutor Centre works as support and engagement for the student;
  • Online resources (e.g.: lectures, seminars, and discussions, tutorials, and feedback sessions, facilitated online student forum and discussion groups, practical exercises).
