MA Environment Design*
Subject Leader - Layton Reid
The future of the architecture, interior, spatial, interactive space and virtual environment design industries will be shaped by our understanding of the polycultural nature of society and the creative use of digital technology. This design-led course aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and expertise to play an important role in that future.
The programme
As the focus on the inter-relationship between people, buildings and the environment intensifies, the course provides a platform for students to expand their design skills while exploiting the very latest technologies. Underpinned by an in-depth analysis of international business and marketing techniques, students gain an invaluable global perspective. Equipped with advanced technical knowledge, students learn about the real business of architecture and design.
This practice-based programme enables students to deliver sustainable design solutions that respond to and exploit the balance between social and commercial outcomes.
Encouraging a polycultural outlook, students look beyond pure technique and explore the impact and implications of human interaction, our impact on society, sustainability and a global agenda.
With access to the wide range of facilities and expertise available at Ravensbourne, students can work collaboratively in the design, creation and production of environments.
The outcome
The MA Environment Design allows students to move towards a Part II qualification in architecture while developing their skills in areas such as interactive space, interior spatial design and micro and virtual environments. Layton Reid
