MA Interactive Digital Media*
Subject Leader - Jared Taylor
This innovative, lab-based programme focuses on the experimental application of emerging interactive technologies. Drawing together interactive design, product design and computer visualisation and animation, it allows students to channel existing technical skills into more creative outcomes.
The programme
The course aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and tools to become self-directed creative professionals. It provides a backdrop for students who want to expand their research capacity and broaden their opportunities by applying their ideas to interactive technology. Incorporating concept development, production and commerciality, its far-reaching scope will see students become developers, researchers, application designers, inventors, entrepreneurs or artists.
With the programme comprising three key components, it offers a comprehensive understanding of the context, theory and drivers shaping today's emerging interactive technology sector.
This course is distinguished by its focus on functionality rather than aesthetics. Exploiting the very latest interactive technology, students develop the skills to create compelling and inspirational projects.
An exploration of human-computer interaction, where computer science meets behaviour and design, provides the cornerstone for the study and development of screen-based media and space-based design.
Working with new and emerging digital platforms students will develop a portfolio of physical objects and projects through a creative use of fundamental programming and installations.
The outcome
The MA Interactive Digital Media draws on fundamental technical knowledge while capturing and developing students creative potential. It provides students with essential specialist skills and places them at the forefront of one today's most dynamic areas of growth.
