About this course
To be eligible to take up your place on our MA Law you must possess an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) at 2:1 or above in any discipline.

Course programme
The course comprises of a short introductory module on the English legal system followed by eight full modules covering seven foundation subjects and an in-depth study through legal research of an eighth area of law.
In addition to the knowledge and understanding of the core areas of law required for legal practice in England and Wales, the course develops the key intellectual and personal skills required by lawyers. In all modules there is a focus on combining knowledge and understanding of core areas of law with the ability to analyse, evaluate and form critical judgements about the law. Study is centred on practical activities that will enable you to learn by doing.
The course is completed in a single year with an introductory, non-credit module, seven foundation modules and a research module.

All modules must be passed in order to obtain the award.
Class contact time is combined with i-tutorials, online multiple choice self-test questions ("Test & Feedback") and self-study from study manuals and textbooks. The learning model is based around undertaking activities in the workshops and lectures to develop knowledge and key skills. The in-depth study of an eighth area of law (Legal Research and Independent Project) is undertaken through a combination of initial workshops, online materials and independent study.
Each module is supported by a Module Guide. Each workshop within a module is supported by a Workshop Guide, which details the activities to be undertaken in that workshop along with the outcomes for, and context of, the area to be studied. Students are provided with a wide variety of supporting study material, including Manuals and textbooks, i-tutorials, and multiple choice Test & Feedback questions, all free of charge. The main learning platform is ELITE, our online interactive learning support system, which will give you instant access to your course materials, a wide range of employability information, library resources and information about services offered at your centre.

Overseas graduates and mature non-graduates:- Please send your qualifications through to the Admissions team who can advise on your eligibility for the course- If you decide you wish to proceed onto the BPTC, please apply for a Certificate of Academic Standing from the Bar Standards Board (BSB).If you have completed a degree outside the UK and you do not come from a majority English speaking country: A certified copy of any document that proves you are qualified in English at CEFR level B2 or above in each of the four components of language learning.
