About this course

Entry requirements
Applicants must have the following:
Honours Degree in Music, Music Technology or a related subject to a minimum pass of 2:2, or substantial industry experience in the field.
Candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio of degree -level / professional work and a written statement.
International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.5 or above, and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).

Leadership and Creativity
Here we look at some of the psychological factors in performance, such as ability, motivation, stressors, burnout, performance anxiety, peak performance, confidence, zoning in, and preparing for auditions and competitions.

Independent Label Management
This module takes a detailed look into how the audio recording industry works and focuses on copyright ownership, the industry's future direction, and how to manage your own independent record label.

Developing Your Career
This module focuses on management, administration, and business in the music industry.

Artist and Repertoire
This module is designed to enhance your understanding of managing an artist's commercial and artistic development, and how they engage with the respective collection societies administering publishing catalogues.

Live Event Management
Through a series of lectures and tutorials, you enhance your understanding of the live arena, and its potential commercial and artistic market value to you - or an artist you represent.

Copyright Law
Here we look at copyright, and media law in the music industry including key issues such as tort, moral rights, and confidentiality.

Research Methods
This module gives you essential skills and support, to prepares you for a successful project or dissertation in the final stage of this MA course.

Dissertation or Project
You will lead a practical project or dissertation on a subject negotiated with your supervisor, who will mentor you throughout. This is your opportunity to devise and execute an ambitious and substantial personal, self-managed project that encompasses and showcases many of the skills and knowledge you will have acquired during the course.
