File Systems

  • The Mac OS X file system, including formatting of disk drives, the fi le system layout, and ho- files are managed on Mac OS X.

Permissions

  • The user and group permissions model as applied in Mac OS X.

Application Environments

  • ive, BSD, Java, and Classic applications running on Mac OS X.

Command-Line Interface

  • Using the Terminal application, use BSD commands to accomplish simple administration tasks.

Network Configuranation d Troubleshooting

  • Configure Mac OS X workstations to access network- based services. Use the Network Utility tool to determine if the cause of the problem is on the workstation or on the network when a system is unable to access network services.

Accessing Network Services

  • Using Mac OS X to access network services, including file, mail, and web servers, as well as basic directory services. Understanding common issues when accessing networking services.

Troubleshooting

  • Using the troubleshooting fl owchart and the various resources and practices to troubleshoot workstation problems. Using the skills learned in the course to troubleshoot specific equipment requirements on a computer "broken" by the instructor.
