A zine (short for Magazine or fanzine - pronounced “zeen”) is usually a self made publication that can showcase anything.

Zines can be traced back to science fiction fans in the ‘50’s and the British punk movement of the 1970’s. Zines are now made and distributed by artists, illustrators and designers alike.

Course programme

A Zine is a low cost, self-made piece of work, accessible and achievable for anyone. This course combines designing layouts, curating content, and specialist skills such as bookbinding and typography - the result is a completed, handmade publication. On this course you will learn through exploration, experimentation and bringing your personal interests on board.

During this course you will learn how to produce your own zine through a hands on non-digital approach. You will experiment with formats, techniques and different ways of making work including self-led and short group projects. There will be several small projects that culminate in creating your own individually designed zine.
