Suitable for: Managers of social care service provision and nursing staff who are responsible for the running of care homes and day care centres that provides a service for vulnerable children and adults. This includes nursing homes and facilities for older people or children, those with learning or physical disability, those with a sight or hearing impairment or those with a mental illness. Such staff will also include owner/managers.

Introduction
The award is a nationally recognised vocational qualification accredited by OCR which is one of the UK‘s leading awarding bodies. The OCR 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services is the intended replacement for the OCR NVQs in Registered Managers (Adults).
The qualification structure comprises 31 units, of which the first four are mandatory with the choice of a further four drawn from a total of 27 optional units. Two of these units have specific relevance to managers of children’s services.

Course Content
Mode of Delivery - The four core units are:
Unit 001 - Manage and develop yourself and your workforce within care services
Unit 002 - Lead and manage provision of care services that respects, protects and promotes the rights and responsibilities of people
Unit 003 - Develop and maintain systems, procedures and practice of care services to manage risks and comply with health and safety requirements
Unit 004 - Lead and manage effective communication that promotes positive outcomes for people within care services
For International Students
The course is full time, 15 hours theory / 15 hour practical based activities, supported by qualified assessors with logged evidence of study/learning time. Candidates will be taught both theory and practice in an audited learning environment where they will be supported by professionally qualified tutors in order to achieve the competencies for the qualification. Attendances to classroom training sessions are mandatory.
Course Delivery and Assessment
Learners work with as assessor individually, completing activities and assessments for each unit. Your assessor will also observe you carrying out practical tasks during your normal working hours in order that you can meet the requirements of each unit. Like all NVQ’s this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to a person’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.

Under Home Office regulations, the course is defined as ‘Sandwich Course’ which means that, with our approval, and as part of continuous learning and development, candidates will be placed in a specified work placement additional hours.
