  • The importance of good posture and the application of ergonomics in the workplace, including driving and in the office
  • Practical skills

Module C

Sitting, standing and Walking

  • Principles of safer handling of patients/clients
  • Patient/client handling risk assessment
  • Communication
  • Practical skills

Module D

Bed mobility

  • Principles of using slide sheets
  • Principles of working at bed height etc
  • Practical skills

Module E

Lateral transfers

  • Practical skills

Module F

  • Using hoists and slings
  • Principles of using hoists, types, selection and safety
  • Guidelines on sling selection
  • LOLER
  • Practical skills

Assessment :
receive a certificate of attendance valid for one year and a copy of their own Passport in Manual Handling which shows what training they have undertaken.

certification:
Students are continuously assessed as each topic is explained. Practical skills are demonstrated by the facilitator, discussed and then practised by the students. Upon successful completion of a short multi choice test.
