Course Contents Types of injury Manual Handling risk factors The law Control measurements Safe lifting technique Summary and questions
Why is manual handling important?
Poor lifting technique is the largest course of workplace injury. Back injuries account for a large number of workplace injuries and 80% will suffer from mild to severe back pain at some stage. 20% is caused by incorrect lifting and posture.
Due to the amount of compensation being claimed by employees who sertained injuries whilst working the Health and Safety Excutive put in to place the Manual Handling  Operation Regulaton (1992).
The Regulations require employers to:

  • Avoid the need for hazardous manual handling, so far as is reasonably practicable
Assess the risk of injury from any hazardous manual handling that can't be avoided
Reduce the risk of injury from hazardous manual handling, so far as is reasonably practicable
£400 based on 16 delegates attending - prices can be discussed upon enquiry
