Course Aims

This manual handling course has been designed with the core aim of
empowering people with the basic knowledge and skills to deal with
manual handling safely.
Course Introduction
This manual handling course has been designed to ensure each member of
your team is equipped with up to date manual handling training and
personal risk assessment skills so that, risks are reduced to employees,
mitigating your risk to claims and litigation.
The course centres on improving manual handling by combining the use of
criterion based risk assessment with current best practice handling
techniques.
This course stimulates an ideal climate for change to attitudes,
practices and motivation which is essential to improving safer handling
in the work place.
Participants discover simple and effective ways to move and handle
inanimate loads in a manner that requires far less physical effort, and
improves confidence in a range of environments.
This programme was originally designed in 1994, received by thousands of
people and has been subsequently developed to keep up with current best
practice and legal requirements.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
* Apply personal risk assessment techniques to the demonstration of
the lifting, lowering, carrying supporting and pulling and pushing of an
inanimate load.
Assessment process
This will be overall and continuous, against the course objectives.
Certification / Accreditation:
On successful completion of this programme participants will receive a
Solutions Certificate.
Special requirements of course participants:
They should be free of injury or any medical condition that may place
them at risk of injury.
Course Trainers:
Solutions trainers come from NHS professional backgrounds and have adult
teaching/ training qualifications. All are recognised by the Middlesex
University and EDEXCEL as accredited manual handling trainers.
