Manual Handling Trainers Course - Load Handling
This course has been designed for those who wish to develop their expertise to the level where they can train others to handle inanimate loads. It is delivered in three one day modules which cover the knowledge and skills required to present a basic load handling course:
Each module involves individual assessment that requires preparation between the modules. It is therefore vital that those who wish to attend this training have the enthusiasm and commitment to undertake the self learning and individual preparation between the modules that is integral to the course.
Course includes:
- Module 1: Standards for manual handling training, legal responsibilities, the ergonomic approach to injury prevention
- Module 2: Causes of injury, effects of different postures and movements, principles of safe moving and handling
- Module 3: Load handling training skills
Each module covers different aspects of a basic manual handling course, and participants have opportunities to prepare and deliver short teaching sessions, with advice and support.
Practical activities covered can be tailored to particular work settings e.g. stores, portering, office environments, housekeeping, domestic work, refuse and recycling.
