The Master of Environmental Management and Development will boost your career in natural resource management and environmental policy, and improve your professional ability to respond to the complex challenges of sustainable development.Offered by the internationally-renowned Crawford School, the program will equip you with the theoretical understanding and practical skills you need to contribute to the goals of economic viability, social acceptability and environmental sustainability in different social and political contexts.Focus areas include biodiversity conservation, food security, climate change, social impacts, environmental governance, and management of primary resources such as water, fisheries, forests, and minerals. A wide range of elective courses from across ANU is also available.Credit and exemptions may be given for prior study and work experience, including to the pre-sessional program.

About this course

A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 6.0/7.0
Applicants with a Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 24 units of credit.
Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units of credit.
Credit for relevant work experience may be considered and will be determined in accordance with the University’s Credit Policy and Procedure nmental Management and Development.

EMDV8016 Master of Environmental Management and Development Sub-thesis

Students must achieve a minimum 70% weighted average mark in the first 48 units of courses attempted and have the written approval of a supervisor for the research component to remain enrolled in the Master of Environmental Management and Development (Advanced). If the total number of units attempted exceeds 48 in the same teaching period in which the 48th unit is attempted, exactly 48 units will be used in the calculation of the weighted average mark with units from the course with the highest mark applied first followed by further units from courses in descending order of marks.

Students who do not achieve a minimum of 70% weighted average mark or do not have the written agreement of an identified supervisor will be transferred to the Master of Environmental Management and Development.
