Units of study information for this degree

Study plan

Candidates for the Master of Project Management complete 72 credit points (cp). Students will study core units at a foundation level before progressing to competency level core units, electives and research/capstone units. The foundation level units provide the underlying knowledge and skills that students require before progressing to the higher level units. All students will complete one of the research/capstone project options. Working professionals in the project management domain whose preferred orientation of study is toward their professional practice will have the opportunity to undertake a methodology/capstone project suite of units which comprises of: ENGG5812 Critical Thinking and Systems Assessment (6 cp) which develops skills in critically evaluating different project management methods and tools in relation to the complex systems environments that they are required to manage and PMGT5850 Project Management Capstone (6 cp) which will incorporate teaching in research methods, plus a major case study based research project. Students with an individual research interest may elect to complete a 12 credit point thesis. Those students planning to proceed to higher research degrees will have the option subject to approval and academic performance, to undertake a 24 credit point dissertation instead of 12 credit points of electives.
