The course consists of 3 mandatory units. These are units 1, 2 and Applications. Each unit will take approximately 12 weeks and successful award of Intermediate 2 Maths is dependent on the student passing an exam taken at the end of each unit and also an external exam which the students sit in the middle of May.
Unit 1 has a Numeracy, Algebra and Geometry content. Unit 2 introduces Trigonometry and an element of Statistics. The Applications unit builds on the work of unit 2 and examines graphs, charts and statistics in more detail.
Please note that this course does not allow progression to the Higher Maths course. It has been designed as a slightly easier option for people who require Intermediate 2 Maths for entry to University and College courses, for example primary teaching.
