Mechanical Engineering BTEC National Certificate Entry Requirements

• A minimum of 4 GCSEs at C or above including Maths, English and preferably Science or equivalent OR
• A BTEC First Diploma in Engineering with a satisfactory reference and equivalent Maths, English and preferably Science OR
• A relevant Level 2 qualification with equivalent Maths, English and preferably Science.

Entry is subject to a successful interview.

Content
During year one of the course (National Award) you will study 6 BTEC modules including; Mechanical Principles, Mathematics, Science, Mechanical Technology, Electro-Pneumatics and Hydraulic Devices and Communications. Year one will also include the City and Guilds Performing Engineering Operations qualification. Key Skills and the OCNW Level 2 Certificate in Health and Safety will form part of your final qualifications.

During year two of the course (National Certificate) you will study a further 6 BTEC modules including; Business Systems, Further Mechanical Principles, Primary Forming, Drawing and CAD and Further Mathematics. The second year of the course also includes a Project.

Assessment Your work will be assessed on a continual basis through a range of written assignments Progression
This course will prepare you for employment at technical/skilled status or for advanced study such as a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
