The Pearson BTEC National Certificate is a technician level part-time course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will develop the skills you need to start or progress in an engineering career.
The course is made up of 11 units - five core units and six specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth.

About this course
This level 3 qualification is recognised as a technical certificate for some Apprenticeships. It is also a gateway to higher education such as HNC or Foundation Degree qualifications. You should be aware that there is a high level of mathematics in this course. The National Certificate is the equivalent of 2 A levels.
You will need a BTEC 1st Diploma with merit/distinction in Maths & Science or GCSE Grade 5 (B) in Maths, and grade 4 (C) or above in Science (double) and English.
