Course programme

This course brings together successful modules from existing media and literature routes to provide an alternative undergraduate pathway.

Course structure

All routes make extensive use of electronic media - audio, satellite television, CD-Rom and the internet. Students develop the skills and disciplines necessary for self-managed learning. In the final year, a major assignment utilises these skills in individual research.

Areas of study

The media route develops production skills and critical awareness of television, film and ICT. Particular emphasis is placed on the cross-cultural cross-fertilisation of media theory and practices. Media exemplars which are the subject of analysis are drawn from a range of cultures and nations.

The English literature route focuses on literature in different social contexts.

Career and progression opportunities

Careers include publishing, journalism and the media, business, and the public services, English literature and media teaching. Postgraduate opportunities include teaching and research.
