Media - A and AS Levels

What are the main features of this course?
Students are introduced to the skills required to analyse a wide range of media products (advertising, cinema, television, radio, music and print), the institutions (Broadcasting, the Press, Magazine and Book Publishing, the Record Industry, the Film Industry and Advertising), texts and audiences.
There is also a practical component to the course which requires students to submit coursework with a written Product Log. This will give students the opportunity to use a range of media equipment such as desk top publishing, video and radio recording equipment.

Hours of Lessons per Week : 4.7
Indicative Group Size : 15

How is the course assessed?
The course is modular with three AS modules in the first year and three A2 modules in the second year. Two of the modules involve practical work. One of the AS modules requires you to undertake a piece of Practical Production, while in the second year you will work towards an Advanced Practical Production, in a different medium.
