Study Method:
This full time course is a one-year course with attendance at college usually three days per week.
Duration :One year
Who the Course is For:
The course is suitable for school leavers and mature students who wish to improve their knowledge and skills in the media prior to following a specialist pathway.
Assessment:
All the assessment is through college set assignments. You will produce a Final Major Project towards the end of the course.
Course Leads To:
This course provides a sound basis for progression on to the BTEC National Diploma in Media, Photography or Interactive Media. It will also develop a range of skills required by employers in the media and beyond.
Entry Requirements:
You will normally need to have one of the following:
At least three GCSEs at grade D or above, one of which must be the written component of English Language or appropriate work experience.
Content:
The course has 3 practical pathways designed to give students basic hands on knowledge of a range of vocational areas within:
- Television and Video Production - this includes location filming, television studio production and video editing.
- Photography - this includes studio and location photography and digital and darkroom techniques.
-Multimedia experience - this will include a range of interactive media work using text, images and sound.
In addition students will study 3 core units designed to extend their understanding of how the Media works:
- Introduction to Media Industries
- Research for Media Production
- Introduction to Media Audiences and Products
