This degree will provide you with the opportunity to critically analyse the ways in which the media industry shapes and is shaped by our world. There are also opportunities to learn practical skills in our dedicated film/television and radio studios and in our animation and page design suites.
Since the invention of the printing press the media has exerted an influence which continues to grow through the new social media to the point that it has a constant impact on the life of almost everyone. It is essential to understand the ways the media can exert these influences for good (for example, uncovering MPs expenses) or ill (recent discoveries of phone hacking). Studying Media and Communication will not only give you the academic skills needed to analyse and understand the media but will prepare you to take your place in an ever-developing, dynamic industry.
