What are the main features of this course?
You will be introduced to a number of key concepts. These include:
- All words and visual images have meanings.
- Reality is changed when presented to us in the Media.
- How men/women/young people/black/asian/white ... are represented in the Media.
- How 'news' is produced. Is it balanced or biased?
- How different people understand what they see/read.
- Who is responsible for financing and making the products we see/read.
- How are we affected by violent images?
- How do Media compare between different countries/regions?
- These ideas are applied by you to areas of the Media you are interested in.
