Media Production Foundation Degree

This is a two year full-time course that gradually builds up your understanding, skills and confidence in Media Practice, and prepares you for a practical career in the media industries. In year one you will take three practical units that firstly introduce you to the equipment, working initially in a controlled studio environment, then outside in more spontaneous locations and finishing with a larger end-of-year documentary project. You will also acquire invaluable experience by spending 20 days on work-based learning. In the second year you will have an opportunity to pursue your own media practice preferences by undertaking a brief from a client and researching your own area of the media industries to achieve a final major project. This will also prepare you for your future, as it will require you to package and present yourself in the same way that will be required when you enter the working environment or progress to a BA Honours Degree. You will be supported throughout via a tutorial programme that will equip you with the study skills to cope with the demands of learning at a higher level, and which will also enable you to be monitored and guided throughout your course.
