Course Content
Media Concepts
The media concepts running throughout the course are: Media Language, Representations, Audeinces, Institutions and Media Genres.
AS Unit 1:Investigating Media
This unit enables students to investigate the media by applying media concepts to a range of media texts. You will study topics that include:·Broadcast and film fiction·Music and lifestyle and how these are presented across the media, for example, broadcasting and cinema, print media, digital/web based and emerging media.
AS Unit 2: Creating Media
The application of media concepts to a practical production project involving a media technology.
A2 Unit 3: Media - Critical Perspectives
Students will develop and formulate their approach to the media and the role of the media in today's society by referring in detail to the relevant contexts which affect media production, distribution and exhibition. You will be given two pre set topic sreas for study across the media platforms, broadcasting, print and e-media.
A2 Unit 4: Media - Research and Production
Students will investigate a media theme/text in more depth and realise a production piece reflecting this research.
