Course programme
Media Studies at Brighton is an innovative, interdisciplinary programme addressing the evolving and dynamic relationship between media and culture in contemporary societies. It is designed to investigate the whole ecology of media, whether it is the communication of images, sound or text. Integrating socio-economic, historical and philosophical perspectives to analyse media as an industry and socio-political force in our inter-connected world, the programme offers flexible pathways, which encourage creativity and critical thinking. Students have the opportunity to combine diverse theoretical approaches with some production-based modules such as photography, video and web production. Our placement module enables students to gain industry experience, furthering insights into the relationship between media theory and practice.
