Content review:

The modules of the Medical Massage Diploma course have been specifically designed to address the most common conditions your clients/patients present with at your clinic and will help you to progress your skills from masseur to consultant.

How often do you find that a client comes in with a specific condition, such as rotator cuff injury, frozen shoulder or iliotibial band disorder, and you are not quite able to address the problem beyond carrying out your normal massage routine? Certainly this can relieve some of the discomfort in the short term. However, in the long term it may have little to no effect, mainly because you are not treating the source of the injury.

The result is that in the end you lose clients as they seek other remedies in their quest for a cure for their injury.

Our Medical Massage Diploma course will make you a more accomplished therapist. Your experience and reputation will grow and therefore you will attract more clients.

During the course you will learn:

  • A complete medical massage routine for the myofascial tissues of the shoulder and upper torso, taught and explained to help you thoroughly examine and normalise the soft tissues and postural distortions of this extremely important and often injured area.
  • Proper body-mechanics, thumb and hand postures to allow you to protect your hands and provide the most effective and sensitive touch to the tissues of this region.
  • How to examine and treat the rotator cuff, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, and much more.
  • How to become better able to provide pain relief for your patients and thus grow your practice.
  • A complete medical massage routine for the posterior, lateral and anterior myofascial tissues of the neck, taught and explained to help you thoroughly examine and normalise the soft tissues of the cervical region.
  • Common causes of head and neck pain including trigger points and postural distortion.
  • Powerful, yet easy, safe and pain free methods to provide relief for neck pain, cervical strains and sprains, range of motion restrictions and whiplash.
  • Techniques to address the posterior sub occipitals, splenius, scaleni, sternocleidomastoid, hyoids, longus coli and more.
  • A complete medical massage routine for the posterior lumbar region with the patient in the prone position, taught and explained to help you thoroughly examine and normalise the soft tissues of the lower back.
  • Common causes of low back pain including trigger points, postural distortion, and pronation.
  • Powerful, yet easy, safe and pain free methods to provide relief for people with lower back pain, lumbar strains, back spasms, over-pronation syndrome and other painful, common soft tissue conditions in the lumbar area.
  • The anatomy and sources of pain in the lumbar region.
  • A complete medical massage routine for the legs posterior, lateral, and anterior myofascial tissues of the legs, to enable you to thoroughly examine and normalise the soft tissues of the whole leg.
  • Common causes of runners legs; shin splint, quadriceps dysfunction, iliotibial band disorders, plantar fasciitis.
  • How to stretch your clients to keep the muscles in good condition and which stretching techniques to use and how to perform them safely.

The duration of the entire course is 9 full days. The course is run either in the evening during the week or during the day at the weekends and spread over 5 weeks. Students do not have to enrol for the whole course. They can decide which module of the course they would like to study.
