This accredited medication handling and safe handling of medicines in social care module provides an overview to care home staff of the essential knowledge that is required for them to safely monitor and to administer medicines to the service users in their care. This module provide valuable knowledge for those studying for an NVQ in Health & Social Care levels 2 and 3. This is a course of study which fully complies with the requirements of the National Minimum Standards (NMS) (England and Wales) and in Scotland to the National Care Standards (NCS) and covers: Legislation and Medication; Roles, responsibilities and boundaries; Types of medicine and routes; Safe practice in the administration of medicine, different formulations of medicines, adminstration techniques for commonly used drugs in care homes and social care settings and common side effects of drugs. Also covers Covert Adminsitration of medication and Risk Assessment frameworks.
The course is available face to face delivered by fully qualified pharmacists and also available online 24 hours a day. The face to face session lasts approximately four hours. Successful delegates will recieve a certificate showing completion of accredited medication handling training course.
