Course programme

Already a qualified mental health or learning disabilities nurse with a diploma? Further your understanding of contemporary mental health issues and top-up your qualification to a full BSc (Hons) on our distance learning course - all while you continue to work.

Our course is a great way to increase your skills and knowledge in your area of clinical practice. You'll be able to study mental health issues relevant to your area of work. Using a range of online activities, you’ll consider evidence that relates to the health and social care needs of your clients and their carers - both now and in the future.

We'll encourage you to apply what you learn in your everyday work; for example, we'll focus on developing your decision-making skills so that you can put them to use. Our aim is to establish you as an active participant in service development who's engaged with the dynamic nature of mental health practice. The skills and knowledge you gain will benefit both you, as a provider of mental health services, and those who access them.

By studying online, you can fit the course around your working life. It can be completed over a period of two or three years.

Our course is regularly reviewed by experts to make sure it's current and relevant to professionals working in a range of mental health and learning disability settings.
