Course Outline:

Observation, evidence from workplace, professional discussion, case studies, assignments and reflective account.

Delivery: Is within small groups or on an individual basis. A programme of learning and assessment to complie a portfolio of evidence of the knowledge and practice of mentoring in the workplace.

Additional units within the Learning and Development (Mini Awards) area i.e. Coaching Learners in the Workplace.

Usual duration: 6-9 months

Meant for:

1. Those individuals who want to develop the skill to become a qualified mentor in the workplace.

2. Those who wish to use their knowledge and experience to support and develop colleagues during induction. Personal development or NVQ.

3. Key staff to provide colleagues with the opportunity to improve their practice and career prospects.

* This course may be especially suitable for shift leaders with NVQ care Level 3. However all candidates should be non-judgemental, not involved in appraisals i.e. not the line manager.

As part of this course learners are entitled to

  • An individual programme of learning according to your needs
  • Visits to your workplace negotiated if required
  • One-to-one support as required
  • Any work to be reviewed to be returned within two weeks

  • Review of progress every three months
