Microbiology For The Specialist Portfolio Certificate Continuous Professional Development

Delivery will be organised into discrete topics, each delivered in separate learning units. There will be core reading and/or case studies and a task to be completed for inclusion in the portfolio.
A wide range of methods for the identification of infectious agents will be considered including microscopic examination, the use of selective media, biochemical and serological tests, the detection of toxins, automated and rapid detection techniques. In addition topics will include the collection, transport, storage and the appropriate procedures for the safe handling of specimens.
