This programme appeals to registered midwives. It enables you to broaden your knowledge and practice skills and gain a degree in one year. We have devised the curriculum to ensure it reflects contemporary midwifery issues and encompasses a holistic approach to the care of women, their babies and their families.

About this course
You will learn to critically appraise midwifery knowledge, demonstrating breadth and depth by evaluating, utilising and informing the contemporary evidence that supports midwifery practice.
There are a variety of modules to choose from and these may include subjects such as: Health Promotion, Leadership of public and community services, Mentorship, Examination of the Newborn, Neonatal Resuscitation and a compulsory Dissertation module.

Course programme
On completion of this programme, you will have in depth knowledge and understanding of the principles and process of research and the application of research within midwifery practice.
The BSc Midwifery top up award is offered on a part time basis. The length of the programme may be up to five years.
The length and nature of the programme will be determined by your personal and professional needs and previous awards at academic levels 5 or 6. You may choose from a number of optional modules please check with the Programme Leader. You will be required to meet with the Programme Leader prior to enrolment to discuss the number of credits and module choice required for the award.
