MINI BEASTS OF THE OLD QUARRY: LAND, AIR AND WATER
A close and in-depth look, discovering the amazing small creatures that inhabit the site at CAT.
You will be guided around the different habitats at CAT by enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutor Peter Brown and given the opportunity to catch and examine specimens closely. Depending on the weather, you will be able to learn more about the life cycles, adaptations and features of a range of butterflies, dragonflies, bugs and beetles. You can also sample to reveal the diversity of organisms that inhabit the ponds and creep in the undergrowth around the site. Hand lenses and microscopes will be on hand to study the mini-beasts in greater detail.
The course begins at 11am and finishes at 4pm, with a break for lunch at 1pm. Please bring a note book, weatherproof clothes and sturdy footwear.
