Symptom-based, patient safety-focused clinical assessment and management plans for patients with minor illness are essential for safe practice. These study days have been developed by Dr. Paul Silverston, a former GP and medical educator with over 30 years of clinical experience in assessing and managing patients within the primary care setting. Paul is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Assessment teaching at Anglia Ruskin University and has published a number of papers on Safe Clinical Assessment and Safe Consulting.
These study days aim to cover the most common symptoms that frequently present as minor illnesses and to demonstrate the importance of performing a systematic clinical assessment, combined with an evidence-based approach to the management of these patients.
Workshop 1: Assessment and management of patients with upper and lower respiratory tract symptoms, including stridor, cough, wheeze and breathlessness
Workshop 2: Assessment and management of patients with musculoskeletal and skin-related symptoms, such as back and joint pain, rashes and moles
