This course is designed for those who are experienced at minute taking or those who take minutes at senior management or board level. If you are inexperienced in minute taking, you may want to participate in our Basic Minute Taking course instead.
Course Objectives

By the end of this course, delegates will have gained:

Knowledge of legal aspects of minute taking;
A focussed approach to minutes;
Understanding of different types of company structures;
Understanding of the role of a Company Secretary;
Training in writing board minutes;
The ability to write a highly professional finished document.

1. Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a Company Secretary or those who take minutes at board level;
The responsibilities of the Chair.

2. The Agenda
How to construct the agenda and what it should include;
The chair's agenda and briefing notes.

3. Minute-taking
What to include at Board level;
How to take effective notes.

4. Active Listening
How to listen effectively in order to produce accurate minutes.

5. Producing the Minutes
How to make the minutes easy to understand and emphasise action points;
The use of professional language;
Getting the right tone;
Meeting terminology.

6. Practical Session
Trying out the new theories in a safe environment.

Broad Bridge Training was started in 1998 by Claire Wilson who began her successful career as a Personal Assistant at Merrill Lynch and also worked in Human Resources before becoming an accomplished trainer for Reed Training culminating in recognition as Reed's Trainer of the Year in 2005.

Claire brings a unique blend of work-related and classroom experience, enthusiasm and humour to her courses, empowering operational staff to add value to their organisation. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secretarial Administration from Newcastle Business School and is a Licenciate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD).
