What will I study?
For NVQ Level 1 you will learn how to communicate in Spanish in order to carry out everyday transactions such as ordering food and drink in a bar or restaurant; making a reservation for a hotel and dealing with travel and accommodation arrangements for tourists in Spain. You will also learn to give directions and ask the way to various destinations. At the end of the course you will generally achieve a qualification in four skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The course consists of one lesson per week; most of the work for the qualification is carried out in lesson time.

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
Learning Spanish is part of making the world go round as 350 million people around the world speak Spanish and it is the official language of twenty countries. By choosing to learn Spanish you will be able to communicate with people in many parts of the world and open up your horizons.

How will I be assessed?
There is no exam at the end of the course. Instead you will put together a portfolio of evidence during the year that will be the basis of your assessment for the NVQ qualification in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing

What can I do afterwards?
This qualification will give you a good knowledge of Spanish in order to communicate at a basic level, where the emphasis is based on active use of the language. It may be possible to progress to GCSE Spanish in the following year.
